right.. im wanting to buy a 106 gti engine off a friend of mine, and i was just wondering if you need any paper work or any details with the engine for insurance purposes etc. the engine has the engine number on the side, is this all i need to send off to the dvla? or do i need more

no you dont matey. i bought a gti engine last bank holiday and you dont need anypapers. doing the conversion in a couple of weeks time. some insurance companies ask for a garage report but thats it. im about to get insurance with ENDSLEIGH. im 19, 0 no claims and 2 years experience and they gave me my best quote of £1715.01.

thinking about it i aint thought about the dvla yet! does it cost ote when you tell them? does anyone know?

the lad im buying the engine off has had a gti engine fitted in his car, and im asking on his behalf too because he aint too sure either, and its already in his car

spencer6 - that is a good quote that mate, im 18 with 1 years no claims, i think its going to be a tad higher for me

need to tell dvla engine number and who fitted etc, then they will change your docs and your all legal
