ticking about 4 times when starting

   I have just replaced my battery but car is still ticking about 4 times when i start it but has always started since i bought the new battery. Is this to do with the charge? Or cud it be something else? Thanks

   Fair enough, will this hav any effect on my battery? Or the battery charging/alternator? Or anything else for that matter? lol. I can put up with the ticking.

   No, the starter solenoid is just like a high power relay - if the contacts are worn then it will click and not engage the starter motor to the flywheel - it wont have any effect on the battery or alternator.
   
   Or.... if the battery is drained too much and doesn't supply enough current to the starter, it will click.
