just got saxo, few potential issues

  1. #1
    hey everyone,

just got a saxo vts and i dunno wether its me not used to the car or that there is a few issues. i guess ill list them so its easy for everyone to read.

1} exhaust fumes seem to smell a bit rich, can only really smell it from back box tho.

2} engine sounds a bit 'chattery', seems to originate from under the rocker cover.

3} exhaust seems very loud, even though it is standard, dunno wether thats just how it is.

4} car also seems to feel restricted somehow, like not as quick as it shud be. are the gears quite short anyway?

5} not sure what mpg is with these but can anyone give me a round a bout figure? i do drive steady most of the time

thanks very much, any help would be ace..

    Faulty lambda sensor/blowing exhaust.

cheers mate, you rekon tht could eliminate a few of the issues?
  4. #4
Yes mate best bet start the engine put a rag over the tail pipe if it is blowing then the exhaust gasses will be pushed forwards & you`ll see where it blowing from.

oh sorry i already did tht and the exhaust isnt blowing, is there anyway to check if the sensor is faulty. cos they aint cheap haha
  6. #6
If you have a mate with a spare lambda sensor then swap it over with yours & see how it runs.

take the lambda sensor out give it a clean then put it back see how that goes

Think the VTS is meant to have a fairly short box too

All those symptoms point to a colasped cat
