Clutch problems

  1. #1
last few days my cars got progressively worse. started off making a high pitched squeaking/whirling sound when i started it so just thought it was the fan belt or something. Then it started constanlty making a strange noise that got worse when the clutch was depressed. Then it became harder and harder to put it in gear and today i had to drive home from work using 4th and 5th only and once i got home it wouldnt go in any. Also the pedal wobbles and vibrates constantly. One thing it does do, it will go into reverse, but even if i leave the clutch down the car starts reversing :s

is this a massive problem like a new clutch? pretty bad considering i only got it replaced within the last 18-24 months. Or could it be somthing more simple

    thanks

Possibly you need a new clutch cable.

Sounds like the clutch release bearing to me mate, so gearbox off again

so obviously i left it all today. Got in from work and decided to start it and see if it'd go into gear. It wouldnt go in and when i brought my foot of the clutch the pedal stayed in. So now it doesnt even feel connected to anything and i can just pull it forwards and backwards with ease

thanks for the help guys. The garage that i take my car to is the one my dads always used but i feel like they've been taking the piss a bit so didnt wanna take it in straight away cos i know they'll just say it needs a new clutch

    Garages

Dont ever trust garages how ever long you've used them. Remember their number 1 aim is to make as much money off you as they can - sometimes at the price of proper parts

I know looking for car parts can involve allot of running around. Next time you need any parts try a scrappy or try these guys for cheap citroen car spares.
