Help! Car is locked with fob, and now wont unlock using the fob?! Got immobiliser codes from citroen 3 days ago!?

I locked my car yesterday with the fob, and now it wont unlock... Its real real cold and shed loads of snow, but i doubt this has anything to do with it?!

3 days ago the car was in the garage because it wouldn't start, and they said it was the immobiliser, so they got new codes from citroen or something (not sure exactly how it works), and I asked them to check the battery and alternator as the battery light kept flickering on long journeys down the motorway...

They said the battery and alternator were fine, and the car started fine when they had fixed the immobiliser, but the battery light still flickered on the motorway when bringing it back up to Newcastle...

Now i've locked my car and it wont bloody unlock again- what the hell is going on?! Anybody that could help shed some light on this would be a legend. Ive had all sorts of mechanical problems with Saxos in the past but never electrical so i'm not too good at this side of things!

p.s. I thought it may be because the car battery was dead, but on the short journeys (4 miles or so at a time) that I have done over the last few days the battery light wasn't flickering which usually indicates the alternator is charging it so I wouldn't expect it to drain that quickly?!

Have you tried the key? :s

Yeah I havent done that yet just because when my brother did that it seemed to lead to having to reset the immobiliser with codes from citroen so i didnt dare!

Ill have to i suppose but the whole thing is alarmed so its going to end in tears...

if you use the fob does it unlock and lock again strait away?

Not sure what the garage has changed, but to reprogram a remote to a standard immobiliser, you would need to unlock your car with the key, then within 30 seconds press the central locking button twice.

this happened to me but it sorted its self out weirdly

When I try to unlock it with the fob it doesn't even try to unlock, the lights don't flash and the locks don't turn... I don't know what buggered the immobiliser last time and don't know enough about how they work really. The last thing I want to do is go and start it with the key only for the system to be shut down by the immobiliser again.
If I take it to a garage I don't want them to say the battery and alternator are fine, redo the immobiliser again and end up going round in circles.
    Bloody Saxos!
    Thanks for the replys

Might sound daft, but is the battery in your key fob flat?

check the fobs' battery. If the battery is fine, reset the fob.

I thought about that but then my spare fob used to work and that doesn't work now either so it would be one in a million for them both to have run out!

How do you reset the fob manu? unlock with the key and press the central locking button twice?
  12. #12
just went through the manual, I confirm you should push the open button twice.

Right so I decided to try the reset fob thing, but no joy, and when I unlocked it with the key I figured the central locking was broken as my passenger door remained shut sooo...
    1. Is the central locking battery powered?... I assume it is...
    2. Can I therefore presume I have a battery/connection problem?

Thanks for the help so far guys

you need to be able to unlock the car to be able to reset the for.
does you key not open any of the doors or boot?
  17. #17
Yeh sorry mate I was a bit vague there, the door that I put the key in unlocked, but it didn't unlock the rest of the doors like it usually does with the central locking system

Sounds like your battery is dead, Does it still start?

Haven't tried it yet I'm crapping it about the immobiliser shutting the car down again as I only got it sorted last week, I'll have to give it a go I suppose. Shit.

Literally sounds like your battery is dead if the central locking doesn't work with the key? Thats what mine did when my battery was flat anyway... I kacked it about the fob aswell!

will probably be your battery if its only doing one door

Your immobiliser wont 'shut down' the car by opening it with the key. There is a transponder in the key, a receiver in the dashboard which is coded to the ECU - unless there is a big electrical fault (or your a thief) this is un breakable.
