Strange noise?

   Since I had my car put through the MOT I've noticed a slight rattling noise when accelerating once it's been put into gear but only happens once it goes into 1, 2 and 3.
   
   For the MOT the cat was replaced due to failing on emissions.
   
   For some reason it's a loud saxo anyway, not in a bad way, but I'm not sure why?
   It looks like a standard exhaust but I'm unsure if it's different.
   
   It's like a cross between a rattling metal noise and a liquid noise. Can only really hear it from inside of the car though.

   hmmm, have you checked the clearances around the pipe? if they put a new cat on they may have lined it up wrong and it's touching somewhere on the chassis. also make sure all the exhaust mounting rubbers are ok, if there worn and slack this will cause excess movement.

   Seems like everything is okay, but the noise is still there?
   It's more like a vibrating noise and it gets louder when the engine struggles when pulling away in first on a hill or something.

   Check the Heat Shield on the Manifold, the bolt holes can become corroded and although the bolts stay in place the metal shield becomes loose and can rattle like hell - if it is that, some large washers will cure it, if it's too far gone, simply remove it altogether.
