Battery Warning Light

  1. #1
Got to work this morning, switched the ignition off and took out the key, the battery warning light then came on and the cd player started up again?!?

So i swiched the electrics on and off and it was still there so took off cd player facia and switched engine off and on again and the light disappeared. I put the cd player back in and it come back on again.

Also the blowers affected it, had to have them swictched to 0, evebn though they were not working when the engine was off and battery light on.

Can anyone suggest the cause and a fix or something to check.

    Cheers
    Steve

battery/alternator surge maybe ? might be because of the cold weather. See if it balances out in the next few days. Don't know if it's on all saxos, but the blowers don't work if the engine is switched off.

mine do sometimes. the ignition relays are funny, sometimes i can get my blowers and PAS on without the engine started!

I have heard of weird stuff myself, like the electric windows working only when the key is off the barrel etc..

No, the blowers never normally work when the engine off in mine, just that when there were set to max and ignition off, so not working the battery light come on.

Just been and checked put cd player in but battery light didnt come on, so hopefully jsut a 1 off down to the cold!

Altenator mate.. Probly the rectifier! Could be ignition switch either... Get your altenator checked for free at any garage and see if your altenator is chargeing!

Jump started it the other day, havent had any problems since!?

Could the alternator be an intermitant problem? Or is it likely to be a loose wire somewhere!?

    Cheers for the help guys!

Yes it could... The rectifier could have gone either! If it went once it more than likely go again in the future! Dont get it checkd if its working because it will show it is workin.. Only when you get a problem get it tested its probley on its way out...

As said check alternator ie 14v Or it could be that the CD player is wired to permanent live when its supposed to be ignition live?? long shot but worth a try.
