Firstly I don't want people saying "Whats the point, 16v it"

This is just a crazy idea that will cost a lot and take alot of time to prepare, however....

I have a 1.1. I want to supercharge... and I want to supercharge the 1.1! I believe people have turbo'd the 1.1 before. A member on 106oc achieved 120bhp from the 1.1. But what do you guys think would be required. Would the internals of the 1.1 be able to cope with a supercharger?! If not what would need to be uprated

The search button will be your best friend. Look up to turbo guide its pretty similar and remember you'll need to securly mount the charger near the crank pulley. But in all honesty you can pay out ££££'s fitting the charger to get 120bhp but a vts engine already has 120bhp with alot less arsing around

Why ?

Supercharger conversion cost professionally fitted with all new parts - £2000-6000
power achieved say - 120 bhp

Vts conversion professionally fitted - £500-1000
Standard power - 120bhp
Cams £400-800
Remap - £200-400
Bmc Cda - £100
Exhaust system £200-400
Power achieved - 140-160 bhp

So for half the price you could have more power and better reliability.

Lol as I said, its just going to be fun! Why not...
Money wise I know it'd be cheaper to 1.6 16v it with cams etc. However I just want to go crazy. And I know how to fit a supercharger so the search function wouldn't help!

Any further help would be appreciated, will the 1.1 engine take the 120bhp(at a guess) from the supercharger and if not what would I need to do!

A 1.1 block can be picked up for f'all these days. Push as much boost through it as it can take untill it goes pop. Put a new block in, lower the boost a lil and try again.

Personaly i wouldnt bother unless i was minted as a decent charger setup is 2k MIN.

could bodge a turbo together alot cheaper..

Oooo you could use the Minis eaton charger...?

Get one of the superwizzy charger kits of ebay, put 2 or 3 in a line on your intake and you will get an extra 90bhp! Dangle them from your exhaust too in a long line you will get lots of horsies

I was expecting supercharger setup for 5k, plus any internals! And its a case of how many times has a vts/gti been turbo'd/supercharged....

Theres a reason for that, think about it.

Give the lad a break! Fair play to you mate for trying it out. Its different (pointless yes, but different).

I mean, who on here seriously thinks of their VTR / VTS as the big powerhouse beast to throw money into. Turbo / Supercharging to me is as pointless in a 1.1 as it is in a 1.4, VTR or VTS! Its only a saxo all the same. A shitty French run about. (Same way as people throw money into the shitest, ugliest bags of death ever... the renault 5

)

I would think to run that much booooooost you would need forged pistons, new injectors, new ECU, intercooler, etc.... in fact everything a turbo would.

Bolt it on and add 10bhp and your different, then you dont need to mess about with everything else and think about a proper 200+ bhp as standard car, to play around with.. Non français!

What are you hoping to achieve from supercharging a 1100cc engine?

'It's just about being different' is hardly an outcome or an achievement

I really dont think the standard internals of a 1.1 are up to that sort of power and even if they were, I doubt it would last long.

Shall I tell you what will happen...

You will supercharge your 1.1 at a cost of say 5k
At the end of it, you will have a car which will be say 120bhp with an engine that wont last long
After replacing the engine (and other bits) several times, you will realise that you are pouring money into a bottomless whole and get bored of the whole project
Finall, you will sell the car for a tenth of what you have put into it, if you are lucky

Why dont you just save the hastle, effort, time and money....and not bother?

Not trying to be rude mate but very few people will tell you this is a good idea. Im struggling to pay the bills, I wish i had 5k to piss up the wall!

The 'modded scene' is not about whos 1.1 goes fastest..
