Just changed water pump and timing belt, car turns over but won't start. Realised when inspecting old pump that i had;nt fitted the 'O' ring, would this affect the starting of the car ?

#2No it won't affect the starting it will probably just leak coolant so needs sorting anyway.
Sounds like you've probably got the timing out - get it right or you will end up doing damage. After doing anything with the cam belt, remember to always turn your engine over with a wrench on the crack pulley bolt before trying to start it.
