If you got mk1 saxo get a new fan switch and replace it (screws into the side of the radiator). If mk2 I believe they are controlled by ecu, which I suspect is why someone has wired up a switch due the complex nature of repair.

Having fan on all the time is not good for the engine or your fuel consumption.

You might be able to get an aftermartket thermo switch and use that to control the fan. One company that springs to mind is kenlowe.

chances are its wired up same as iv had mine and others do theres

It will be wired to a thermostat and a bypass switch, so eather way ur safe....

ok yellow arrow points to where the wire comes from its black and it comes from a connector block that clips into something
(maybe a sensor or something) the wires are all blue but this one that if cut and left hanging is black which is where the red arrow points to,
my mate thought this was a earth so tried it touching the engine and it melted the wire he used extending off it so this must mean that wire is live or something
i taped it up for now but was just wondering what it is
is this where my fan wire should go to?
the pix abit crap it was taken when removing the gearbox and i know the car needs work doing to it but thats why i brought it

as you can see the wires come off the back of the fan, the yellow wire goes to the switch i think and the black is a earth

I could be wrong but the fans normally wired up through a relay, the thermostat and negative on one side, ignition live on another. To wire it up to a switch the relay is bypassed so instead of the thermostat switching it on, you manually do it.

Probs wrong like but Id look for a relay, if it doesnt have you, you need one.
