keykode immobiliser & conversion

  1. #1
Does anyone know if there is anything in particular i need to do to disable the keykode immobiliser correctly before the conversion to vts? the lad i bought the engine off pulled a grey box out from under the passengerside dash and said to:
start the car then after ten secs, unplug the box, then do the conversion.

is this right? or is there something else i need to do?

also with me doing it myself, whstb would i do about a garage report for the insurance?

Does the key for the vts engine have a chip in it? When we did my conversion, we got all the transponder boxes from behind the glove box so that the chip in the key worked. I think its a little bit more complicated with the keypad ones.

turn engine on, disconnect key pad, turn engine off, ecu is unlocked, you can test this by then removing the battery putting it back on about 10 mins later and starting the car, if it starts the ecu is unlocked, if it doesnt then its still locked.
