Silly question > why would you want VTR brakes with grooved discs etc on a 1.1?
IMO paying that sort of money on a 1.1 is pointless.

Having VTR brakes on a 1.1 isn't even expensive plus its an added safety feature

and it could set you up for a engine swap in the fututre, one less thing to need unpgraded
  8. #8
i done a vtr brake conversion and is perfect, the brakes are alot better and can rely on them

dont listen to some people on here mate, a brake upgrade isnt pointless on a 1.1 or any car upgraded brakes are always going to be better and its your car mate so do it as you want it not how people try and tell you, good luck with the car and u shud start up a thread and get it going before the conversion

+1 do what you want mate, your car!!

If you have bendix calipers your car will be 4 stud, so no worries in that department.

Go nuts, you'll need new bolts from Citroen though.

I hate going through the dealership!! They just take the piss..

They usually have them on the shelf, they're about £4 each...

Better than knackered ones from a breakers.

Im puttin the R in because i allready had one out of my vtr . got wrote off c!

I got the bolts there somewhere ?? lol

Id say this is a pointless upgrade like (i have done this myself) I feel almost no difference in my braking effort AND there was very little difference recorded on the brake rollers. Only worth doing if your going to be putting some serious heat into the brakes or your looking at some sort of softer compound pads. Got my bolts for free from a breakers.

No-one said there would be a difference in braking effort - they're still 247mm discs, the maximum brake effort will be exactly the same.

Solid discs are crap as far as heat dispersion is concerned. Try braking repeatedly from 70-0 on solid discs then trying to stop at the next set of lights. PROTIP: You won't.

    VT* ones are much better.

Bolts from a breakers will no doubt be fine, but it's probably worth noting the fact that brand new ones are supplied with the ends threadlock coated if you do want to use second-hand parts.

Discs or drums really doesnt matter unless your regularly tracking the car and leaving it withthe handbrake.on directly after

The rear braking on a saxo doesnt do much hence quite a few guys run a brake bias valve to be able to limit the amount the rears work as otherwise when you brake the nose dips with weight transfer abd the rears become light meaning its a lot easier to lock them up i personally wouldnt bother its not worth the effort imo
