Important! : Car keeps reving during shift

  1. #1
orite when im shifting in late rpms, the vtr wants to keep reving up once i put the clutch down? anyone think what it is?
or is it just the fact that iv swaped from a vts to the r and not used to the 8 less valves lol

    anyone?

You know you are meant to take your foot off the gas when you shift right?

haha nah on a serious note, mine does it sometimes, bit weird
Clutch down, into gear and the revs start to go up before I pull the clutch back up

Could be a vacuum pipe m8. Or sticky throttle body/cable?

    cheers

I found mine doing that, but only when the engines cold, once i let it run instead of start-go it doesn't/didn't do it...

can be the tps sensor giving a false reading to the ecu which can lead to air being dran in though the icv

because the ecu thinks the throttle is open when its not and it has to draw air in else where and the only other place is the icv, so the ecu will tell the icv to open

it sounds complicated but i had i on my saxo when the tps sensor went

Mine's doing that, gets stuck at 4,500 for about 3 seconds if you just rev it. Or if you're changing gears it keeps revving and sounds like an Auto lmao

yer it can be a pain tbh

mine drove like a mile on its own lol
i had the diagnostics plugged in doing a li data run i had my foot off the pedal, but the ecu was still reading a 32deg opening of the throttle, which is why my ecu was makig my ecu open the idle control valve to bring the air in as it couldnt get it anywhere else

was an expensive fix tbh cause i gota new tps sensor, but it also killed the icv due to it being broke for so long and we couldnt find out what it was for weeks until we did that live data run

    Damn better fix mine lol.

I thought it was odd just now coming home so I revved it at some traffic lights and it was stuck just over 4,500 for like 3 seconds lol. Then as you said, drove itself for a bit. Sounds like you forget to take ya foot off the Throttle when you change gear lol. Even at low Revs

Idle is getting slightly rough too, Never thought anything of that but it may well be linked to that TPS and ICV. I might stick my spare ones on tomorrow and see how it goes =]

Yer it's defo worth swapping if you got one spare
I mean tbh you won't find it'll effect the icv until it gets really bad so youll be ok for now anyway
I mean mine was hard to findwhere the problem came from cause i had just fitted a s1 rallye head which required slot of stuff being change along with a newmans ph2 cam (same as ph3) along with the s1 inlet which through alot of stuff out tbh.
So it took a while to go through all the possibilities lol.

My 16v rallye has just started doing the revs going up on gear changes too come to think of it, well it was couple weeks back had diagnostics on it the other same and tps wasn't reading quite right so that will be changed soon when I can be bothered to buy one and fit it lol

Lol odd... My Diagnostics Reader doesn't some up with any Codes... I'll still replace the TPS though.
