    As above. Friends vtr
Left his car for months. Water Nd coolant. He says.

Upper pipe frozen not solid but nearly.
Rad got a few big solid pieces!

    Lower guessing same as upper.

    Reccomendation?
Hotter water spray on hoses Nd let abit soak in rad
Then a heater near waterpump just to warm up?
Remove thermostat housing ? Spray hot water?

    Haven't started car!

Has he got a garage where he can store it? If so put it in there and put a heater in front of it then let it slowly thaw out. If not try what you have already said any way of warming up the coolant that you can think of really.

Went to squeeze my top rad hose earlier and its like a slush puppy, full of ice, will just leave the car until the snow is over though..

Garage + add some anti-freeze asap.

^^^ yep but his is bit harder than a slush puppy

I'd also take the upper and lower hoses off tbh mate,

If you just drain rad and pour anti freeze in, will it seep throughout the system and thaw it? Never tried that.

Antifreeze shouldnt freeze... Even a small bit should be enough for -5. When its thawed out id say drain flush and refill with new antifreeze 50/50

(and hope its not cracked your cylinder block or head already)

Have a look at the core plug/s. Make sure they haven't popped out. If not then just keep pourin hot water over the engine until it thaws out, then drain and refill with 50/50 antifreeze

What does a core plug look like on a saxo?
Where is it situ? Never seen one.

Just a circle on the actual block, you can't miss them,.

There's a row of them on the back of the block
