#2probs looking like £550 - £700 mate
-
#3alot more than that inc a remap
id say over 1k tbh, ive been there and i spent about 800 just on camming it without the remap, but i wasnt shy and replaced anything i needed to if anything replaced some stuff that wasnt needed
just put a 16v in, its a lot cheaper and worth it
i now have a 16v rallye and wish id have gone 16v before in a way rather than camming an 8v
although a cammed 8v is immense when done right
mine made 120bhp umapped, and i had a 1400xsi gearbox it wasnt slow put it that way lol1 user thanked this post: -
#4Cheers lads reckon i myt need a very good vts engine!! The only fing i worry about is my vtr engine only done 35,000 miles an 1 lady owner
-
#5if you were to take it to a garage your probs looking at around £600+ (ish) depending the cam and to have it fitted then youve got a remap on top of that1 user thanked this post:

#6dont ruin your car by doing a 16v conversion. if you find a well looked after saxo keep it that way.Quote:Cheers lads reckon i myt need a very good vts engine!! The only fing i worry about is my vtr engine only done 35,000 miles an 1 lady owner

i wish i never sold my old saxo now as finding another in the same condition has proven impossible. so now im stuck with a 106 quicky instead after looking at 15 vtr's and not finiding 1 that hadnt either been in a bump and not repaired very well or had major problems with engine/gearbox or suspension or stupid mod like spraying parys of the car stupid colours.
keep the low milage, well serivced engine in and if you want more power then go for a cam.
you can get away with just having it set up on a rolling road not a full remap.
and if you have a haynes manual and can fit the cam urself you can save a fortune.
if you want alot more power then buy a different car. please dont do what everyone does and ruin your car.
belive me keep the car standard and you will get alot more money back for it when you go to sell as iknow myself how hard it is to find a decent, standard saxo and i had almost £2500 to spend but nope i come home with a shitty 106 instead1 user thanked this post: -
#7Yh true mate.. I paid 2500 for myn an it onli had 22,000 miles when i bought it
you kno how it is tho ppl get bord of the same power!!
Cheers lads -
#8Buy a vts engine, rebuild it and stick it in. That way you've got 35k car with 0k engine, even better
-
#9agrea with leeM just re-build an s engine
-
#1035k is low but just depends if you wanna spend £1k+ to get your car to 120bhp or spend £3-400 to get it to the same level with a lot more potential, the power really kicks in at 5k rpm on the vts engine and it just keeps pulling like a train up to the limiter where the gay 8v's drop off
lol
-
#11well my mate got a 16v and my GAY 8v aint far off!! he was only 0.5 secs off me at santa pod!! lol
