Starting problem

Whenever i try and start my car from warm it usally takes a couple of attempts and when i eventually get it started a puff of black smoke comes out of exhaust.
Also for about ten minutes after if it just revs itself to fuck with the clutch down sometimes even to 4000rpm, which is quite embarrisn and also when i let the engine labour a bit it accelerates on its own free will.
Does anybody know what might be wrong? any help appreciated. cheers

Ive got a mk2, so it cant be spark plugs. I don't really know much about engines, whats a coilpack and where can i find it?
Ive been told by a mate that it could be the idle control valve is this right.

y cant it be spark plugs mate, every car has them, the coil pack is at the back of the engine it has a flat top and runs along the back of the rocker cover with a plug in the middle, if u take that out then ure spark plugs are underneath, could be the idle control valve yeah, does it feel like it dont wanna go when u driving it etc, think black smoke usually means its burning oil tho take it to a garage

I had an identical problem a couple of days ago. I got in from work and the car was sitting for about half an hour before i was going out again and it took me 3 attempts to start the engine. Its normally a 1st timer everytime . It was only serviced about 1500 miles ago. I didnt have the problem with black smoke though or excessively high revving though. Could my problem be plugs? or maybe leads?
