106 S2 rallye inlet manifold

  1. #1
I have a 2001 y reg vtr with the 98bhp engine I've been told if I fit a S2 rallye inlet manifold I'll see a power gain all be it small is this true? Is it the manifold I need or the throttle body? Or both?
    Cheers guys

won't fit port spacing is different

As above, port spacing on 98bhp engine is different.

Even if it did fit, wouldn't make any difference.

I looked in to doing this but the ports are different, you would need to make a new manifold. The power gain would be a few hp but you would also need a cam, the s2 rallye had a better cam aswell as the bigger inlet.

Would the s2 rallye cam fit my engine the 98bhp silvertop?

No the mk2 has a slightly different head, but you could get a piper or newmans PH3 cam?

The S2 Rallye camshaft is for non-roller rocker gear (older black top engines). The 98bhp VTR engine has roller rocker gear.

if anything you'd wanna fit the S1 inlet not the S2 but as already said heads are different

but...a few people fit the rallye cylinder head so you can fit the inlet and with a ph2 cam and a remap looking at about 120bhp

Agreed the s1 inlet gas a bigger throttle body and will fit.

also the actual inlet is about 3 times as big lol because its metal it sounds awesome and looks the dogs danglys

youd see more than 120bhp with a remap jeffchiz

i made 120bhp without a remap on my vtr and that ha the s1 inlet s1 head and ph2 cam
also a guy on rallyeregister made 130bhp on his quicky, he used the ph2 cam, complete s1 ecu head whole upper assembly, had a small amount of work on the head just polished the ports and opened them up a bit, he kept the 1400quicky bottom end then had remap by wayne at chipwizards and mae 130odd bhp iirc

how ever that set up is a lot of effort to do

    i tell a lie.....

just found the guys thread, he made 125.9bhp at 7900rpm lol still mental for a 1400

it will fit mate, i mean i know the 98bhp bottom end uses flat pistons as opposed to the early ones that had slightly dished/domed pistons iirc
so if your fiting with the standard si/rallye cam it will be fine, if your fitting a aftermarkt cam though clearence may be close i think tbh depending on the cam anyway

but either of the rallye or xsi heads will be fine mate

you just need to make sure you have the rallye/xsi injectors as they are bigger in size than the standard vtr ones so the vtr injectors wont sit right
also you may need to convert to ht leads and coil on side of the head as i found mine was developing a slight missfire with the standard rail
if you want more pics and info have a search through my thread history and you will see my old vtr progress i had loads of pics and info in there when i changed my head and cammed it
