Cat back or Suspension Kit?

  1. #1
    Hi Guys,

Been looking on Kam Racing and trying to decide what to get first. My VTR is standard except a Raceland Induction kit. So what do you guys reckon would be best to get first? (As I may add more mods later on)

Either a Spax PSX Suspension Kit:

Or a Cat-Back system not too sure which one maybe this one:

    Cheers,

I put an exhaust on mine first, only because the standard one was messed up!!

but i would say to Lower it first, makes a huge difference to how the car looks!

Dont get the PSX kit, get the VSX non adjustables as the PSX get problems quite frequently.

Cheers for the quick replies! Not too sure about the cat-back because I would want to de-cat it so may cause a few problems with the cat being in the mani :/ Could I get a Raceland 4-1 mani and then use a mk1's cat somehow when it comes to the MOT?

    Cheers

Ye go for the exhaust first mate ! thats a nice system

I'd go for suspension fella, your current set up is probably very worn by now so you'd have a better base to build upon in the future with regards to engine mods. You won't go wrong with the apex kit from kam, poly bushes all round and most importantly the tracking done. Should come in at about 350 if you fit it all yourself.

    lower first

I would go for the exhaust.

Unless the ride comfort is going to be miles better than standard after fitting a suspension kit, which i cant see happening.

Cheers for the replies! I think I'll go for the suspension kit unless the cat-back's gonna give some better positives which I don't think just a cat-back will? Im not bothered by comfort, deffo more performance and feel

chassis first. Chavs start with an exhaust.

I have a 2001 vtr too, tbh mines on standard suspension atm (until funds permit) and it handles awesomely. but i fitted a 4-2-1 manifold and the difference is amazing, it sounds great and on a rolling road it is now 109.4hp so well worth sorting the exhaust first!!

Realistically you want to think, what are the roads like around your area or along the routes you take if your lucky enough to have perfect raods then lower if like most places in the UK they're prone to pot holes and especially sinces it's winter and spring isn't going to be great with the roads do the exhaust, then wait to lower it because more than likely you'll lower it and chance messing up the suspension

Lower it first mate. Realisticaly a cat back exhaust is not going to make a noticeable difference in how the car feels to drive, it will just be louder.
I cant stress enough how important Decent suspension/tires are, you will see a massive difference if you do it properly.

Thanks for the input! I'm with you on that one wicked-vtr, haven't really experienced a good aftermarket suspension set up though so I'm just gonna bit the bullet and go for that kit. Oh and db_sax does the VSX kit come with rear shocks? Cause from time to time I can have a full car.

    Cheers,

    Kurt

Yeah, the VSX comes with rear shocks. As said above though, stay clear from the PSX, if you want adjustables get yourself a different brand!

If you need any suspensiion fitted though, drop me a message!

Lower her first and do the cat later - that way she look right even at standstill
