Hi guys, I just wonderd whether the difference between the 6k and the 8k were just the bulbs or the ballast? I know the colours are different, but one of my 8k ballasts has stopped working, so was just wondering if I plugged my 8k bulb into a 6k ballast, whether it would be the same or even if it would work?

    Thanks.

    Yes it will work

So i'll get 8k light from the 6k ballast then yes? Thanks.

I swear they are different frequencies as they kick out different output?

i know your not supost to mix balasts realy because if you put a 600 wat sodium bulb or metal halide bulb in a 400 wat balast its dangerous
it would work but your not supost to do it
so why do it with car lights?

you be better playing it on safe side and buy the 8k kit .

Well I bought some off a guy off here who was doing a group buy and three months down the line one of the boxes broke, so seeing as I got them with a warentee I thought i'd get another ballast, but the geezer keeps messing me about so i'm stuck in limbo really.

My understanding of this was that: Ballast controls the power, and the bulbs are made to cope with a set amount of K&voltage. Therefore a 6K ballast will work with a 6,8,10K bulb but only give out the same colored light as the 6K. and if you run a lower K reading bulb on say a 10K ballast you run the risk of blowing it alot quicker...

All of the above is not a guarentee though did learn about this at college but that was 3 years ago

    Just buy an 8K ballast

Seen as you bought the kit of him keep harrassing him or go back to Manafacturer as that is who the kit has the guarantee with?

I have been harrasing him but apparently his supplier has just gone bust so there isn't much I can do now, who actually makes H.I.D's? I don't have a reciept for them so in theory there isn't proof of purchase or how old they are...
