Engine Revs Like A Loopy Chicken!

  1. #1
    Right friends I seek Wisdom!

My Engine (Mk1 VTR) started to keep its revs when I changed gear, and if you rev it it would hold them for about 3 seconds then go down to Idle...

So I sprayed the TPS and ICV connectors and most others with WD40, that fixed it for last night. But this morning it was doing it again, so I changed the TPS and ICV for the ones that were on my Standard Throttle Body. (One I have on is Polished) But that seems to have made it worse Now if you rev it below 4,000 it sort of holds them but not even for a seconds but if you rev to 4,000 then take ya foot off it just keeps going! Up to about 5,500 then goes down to 4,500 then holds it as it did before for about 2-3 seconds then drops down to idle... The throttle cable isn't stuck, the butterfly closes fully and it's free. I think maybe it's the cold damp air?

Oh and the idle seems to be getting higher... Was around 1,000 when warm a few weeks ago, now it's around 1,200 sometimes higher when warm.

    Anyway any ideas friends?

Right, I just went to my Parents to take the new Coolant Temp Sensor from my new Engine.
Put it in, went for a Test drive and the problem was fixed! Revs come straight down faster than ever... So I cracked out some Skittles and went home...

But! I got about half way home and I got a new problem! Now, it revs by itself... Like if you put the clutch in and coast it'll rev, say you was going down at 4,000 then put the Clutch in it'll be like 4,000....2,000...4,000...3,500... Etc... By itself... Last time it was ICV but I've just out a new one in lol and TPS it also has a new Crank Sensor because I broke that while changing the Clutch. Anyway back to it... If you rev it also it'll do the same once you get past 3,000 this time it'll go up and down by itself for about 4 seconds then goes to idle...

    Any idea's?

I've checked Vacuum pipes too =/
