can somebody tell me what way i am supposed to put the alternator belt? mine snapped todayhive got the replacement part im just a bit wiery of fitting it as if i get it wrong i have to buy another and go through the process again.

im not sure about the bit in the middle i no it has to go on the big pully on the engine and around the little pully on the alternator im not sure about the bit in the middle (im not sure what its called) or were its supposed to go.

has anybody got a pic of there engine out of the bay with a alternator on so i can get a better idea of were its supposed to go?

whats the easiest way to move the tensioner to get the belt on?

any help would be much apppricated.

    cheers

wish ud have put this yesterday, i changed mine today...

Basically you need to undo the 13mm nut that holds the alternator in place (no need to take it off, just slacken it), and the 9mm tensioner bolt/thread - undo it alot as makes putting the belt on easier. Tap the tensioner bolt towards the engine with a hammer so it moves the alternator towards the engine. Take off the old belt, and put the new one on the crank pulley first, then slide it over the alternator pulley. Do up the 9mm tensioner bolt so it starts to tighten the belt - you want it so that you can twist the belt 90°'s right to left (ie. not too tight, not too slack). Once your happy with it - tighten up the 13mm bracket nut. All done - no more squeaks
