drivehsfat intermiediate bearing?

  1. #1
ive ordered two new drive shafts and the drivers side one does not have the intermeidate bearing does this matter? its the little bearings thats on the shaft of the drive shaft ? also the ones ive ordered have abs rings on them and mine does not have abs? will this matter?

abs ring doesn't matter, however if you fit a one piece shaft in place of the 2 piece with intermediate bearing you'll have a leak from the box as the shaft won't go all the way into the diff

how bad will the leak be mate?
  4. #4
any leak is bad in my opinion, gearbox doesn't hold that much oil to start with,do you really want to go on a long journey and have to stop and fill the box up with stinking gear oil wearing your best clothes or put it off for a couple of days and trash the box?

Isnt worth it mate. Mine leaks and it dosnt take long for it to empty. Not cheap and not easy. Fix it right imo

yes mate i was thinking the exact thing ... just bought the right one ...
  7. #7
sorry thread hijack but what is this bearing can you buy them seperate?
  8. #8
i think so mate its like a little bearing thats on the shaft im pretty sure the whole point of the intermeidate bearing is to help with torque

    correct if im worng loll

you cant buy the bearing seperatly its a completely different shaft set up.

on the shaft without the bearing the cv joint is right at each end of the shaft
with the bearing it is at the hub and halfway down the shaft so it enters the box at a straight angle.

final word: if your driveshaft has the intermediate bearing then buy a replacement of this type. if it doesnt then dont.
