Clutch on my vtr

  1. #1
Just a quick question regarding my clutch.
It seems to be rather all or nothing when pulling away and the biting point feels more like a on/off switch? But the previous owner assures me it was replaced last month.
    Thanks for any replies

    Go into more detail mate?

Hard to explain. The pedal comes up suddenly right on the bite.
No room for error when pulling away.

Try adjust the pedal to where you would like the bite point to be.. The bite point wont change but the pedal length should be making the bite point feel higher up if that makes sense lol

The adjuster is next to the battery tray a 10mm bolt i think it is with a cable leading away from it

    Good Luck

I'll give that a go when it's light, cheers.
Although id prefer the bite to be lower down

The way you word it above as if the bite is already at the bottom of the pedal ?

Sorry worded it wrong. I think it's too high up the pedal. So am I right in saying I need to adjust the pedal higher?

You would need to slacken the adjusting nut on the end of the cable if you want the pedal to sit lower.

It probably feels grippy (on/off rather than smooth) because it's new and not warn in yet.

I replaced mine recently and had same issues as you, it is getting better now after a thousand miles or so though. Also if your clutch cable is worn/dry/sticking it will be difficult to smoothly engage the clutch as the pedal will jerk intead of moving smoothly.

Adjusting where the biting point is in relation to pedal height might make it easier for you control for now though as mentioned above. Need a 10mm and 11mm spanners, looko under battery tray for cable, can't miss it (remove intake hoses for acess)
