Smoked standard lights

i no you can buy the spray to tint your lights in halfords, but every time i see wen people havedone it they go a matt colour and graininy and look unfinished (unless the rest of the car got a matt/satin finish obv).

i saw a new corsa yesterday with lights that matched the black of his car but were shiney. can i get this effect by using the halfords spray and then laquering over the top? or do u have to buy the propperly smoked ones?

    cheers in advance

you dont tint spray the front head lights, you have to spray an insert that's inside the headlight intself for the smoked effect.

take headlight off and put in oven for 10-15 minutes to soften the glue, take the glass away and youll be able to remove the insert, once you have the insert, prep it and spray it black with paint, not tint spray!

oh, this has been covered loads, use the search :-)

Just be sensible don't go to dark or the Police will be over you like a rash. Anything that changes the colour or makes the rear lights darker would render them illegal for road use. The Police often ignore slight tints if you leave the reflectors clear but even that is strictly speaking is still illegal.

Yeah it'd be nice to see your progress :-)

AXracing, do you happen to know where the reflectors are exactly? I've searched it so as to leave them clear but can't find anything! Help would be appreciaed!

Take a photo of the rear lights with a flash camera, and the 'reflectors' will be easy to spot

Please don't colour code your lights to the body, it looks tacky and shit

cheers fellas! all apreciated, and furio, am planning on spraying the car diamond white, so thort the black would give it a contrast, but i do like the standard shiney red lights. im thinking ill just give them a decent clean, maybe hit then with some de greaser

Mine are tinted, and my reflectors are tinted too... They still shine a little, but not much.

But I have bright bulbs in that look normal at night. Might be worth a look at these?

see they go spot on with your car, looks quality, but on a white car, just think it wud look abit dull. thanks tho mate, apprecitate the help

    Totally agree.

The matt finish only looks good on matt cars.

If you use the tint spray, but use a nice laquer over the top you should get a nice shine on the lights. Just make sure you wax them every now and again! Just do a really light tint, and should look good on a white car.

As long as you have other gloss black parts on the car im sure they will look fine
