May have a pretty major problem!! Gearbox, Engine, clutch?!?!?!!

Im driving along down the road and i reach an incline, maintaining my high gear (5th) i cruise up but as im going up the engine pulls at a low rpm and then something slips and sends it about 1k higher for about a second then it dipped back down again, i noticed it did this so when i got on the motorway i tried it normally, 5th gear low RPM foot to the floor and it slips 1k revs, i tried it in 4th and 3rd to check its not the gear and it does it still...

This happened before in my last saxo and it eventually got so bad that i had to replace the clutch and gearbox because it slipped and wouldnt catch on at all, it was a worn clutch and the gearbox had shredded up.

    My theories:

    Clutch worn

    Gearbox shredded

clutch cable tention too high thus not engaging it fully.

My main confusion is that it doesnt do this at high RPM with my foot down, just low where i have less tourque??... how comes?

Any help will be incredibly helpful as i have had some pretty hefty bills from such problems in the past.

So the slipping happens in all gears only when your slightly heavy with the accelerator? Im assuming it doesnt happen when your constantly level on the accelerator?

TBH sounds like a worn clutch to me.

Yes just when im heavy footed, but as far as i can tell only at low rpm too..?

The thing is i have no noises.. i thought worn clutches made noises when ticking over etc?

Looks like its clutch.. good old youtube.. this is pretty much exactly what happens, except mine only slips a little, 1k rpm for a sec and also i dont have such a retarded voice.

Clutch slip can happen at any rev range.

A worn clutch plate itself wont make any noises, just means theres very little/no friction..hence the revs increasing then dropping back down when your pushing the accelerator hard

Thanks for the help mate, i know how it all works and stuff.. ive had some experience in this field before
Last time i had a shredded gearbox due to a downshifting fanatic previous owner.
Just hoping i didnt have this all over!
    Thanks again pal
Check the video, thats what it does..

Yeah thats a slipping clutch. The noise when ticking over you are thinking is the clutch release bearing which makes a noise until you put your clutch in.

remeber if you put your foot down when your at low rpm going uphil theres more load on the clutch than say putting your foot down at high rpm going downhill

    that was helpful cheers buddy

Another quick one.. how much would it cost to replace? Not the part but the labour?
