i'd personally get it done by a professional if you dont even know where to get a 'slidin hammer' from.

Very very rare that a slide hammer will work. Not worth attempting it with one unless you've got a very good 'industrial' sized one, even then with some torsion bars you'll run the risk of ripping out the threads in the end of the torsion bar before you actually get anywhere.

Theres much better and safer ways of getting the torsion bars out, but again on paper it doesnt look like a difficult job to do, but plenty of people have a crack and make a hash of it, probably half of the cars ive lowered have been ones where others have previously tried and failed and it can be more time consuming fixing the cock ups someone else has made than it would be to have done the whole lot straight away.

yeah, when you read the guides it makes it seem quite straight forward, but i mean ive done engine conversions and the like but this will be the first time i'll have attempted torsion bars. what safer ways are there mate?

get some m8 thredded bar/ long bolt. slide that through a socket that is bigger than the torsion bar with a big washer to push against the socket and a smaller one to go underneeth the head of the bolt. give the torsion bars a bit of a wack with a hammer to 'shock' them, and screw the bolt in. this is the best way to get the bars out but it still come with its own problems like you could still pull the threads out so if its not moving keep hitting it with a hammer.

and iirc your suppose to remove the top torsion bar first.
