Sunstrip

hello, what is the legal depth for a sunstrip?
    thanks
    Adam

About negative 8" they look terrible!

On A more serious note, the rule is as long as it doesn't foul where the window wipers clear it's ok! So as long as there us a gap between the top of the wipers and bottom of the sun strip your all good...or that's what Iv always been told!

chop your window wipers down lol
    only joking dont do that
any tips for putting these on properly? without bubbles under it
  4. #4
Well patience helps , lol but take your time work your way from the centre outwards and make sure when your put it on leave about a inch each side before trimming it, the sun strip tends to shrink so that gives you that safety Leave it for bout a day or so before trimming I pal

Shouldn't pass mot if the wipers pass over it, but if it's on the inside it's hard to tell really, you wouldn't notice as much!

As long as the wipers don't touch it its fine,as a loophole you can fit really small wipers for the MOT to get through it. Also if fitted on the inside using tint film I believe there is no real limit.

there must be. Oh well according to you, im going to just tint the whole of my windscreen from the inside

Actually. If the sunstrip is slightly see through, it doesn't matter if the wipers touch it. I had my MOT man tell me this when my last MOT took place.

Hence why i said no real limit...i meant to say within reason, obviously the full windscreen is out of the question but I had a tint one which covered quite a way down the screen and that passed the MOT so like I say as long as your not taking the piss with it should be ok?

dont get a sunstrip there cheap and tacky mate ruin the look of any car
  16. #16
Dont fit a solid sunstrip they're not legal, use window tint film & just dont take the piss depth wise when fitting it & you'll be ok.
  17. #17
Solid strip can be 10mm in to the swept vision of the wiper no more than that.

So on a Saxo about 45mm or so.
  18. #18
just buy a really big sax-p sticker , sunstrips are S**t imo

Sunstrips are a must have when you have a full roll cage fitted and hence no sun visors.

I'll have to disagree with you on that one...

That was from VOSA when I my run in with them, You maybe correct Dave as this was around 2 year's ago and well the law's seem to change and alter over night these day's.
  21. #21
or you could just drive facing the other way ?? maybe ??
  22. #22
i bought my saxo and it came with a sunstrip (which i planned to rip off)
it failed its MOT because of the strip - despite the wipers not touching it
  23. #23
cant see why, law states as long as the wiper path is not obstructed then they are road legal.
  24. #24
oh well - i didnt want it anyway so it was just a job that the MOT man did for me
