Spanner symbol

  1. #1
Hi guys, just a general query, i have noticed that within the last 2 days a spanner/ wrench symbol has appeared on the dash board next to the clock. Just wondering if anyone could tell me what this means? thanks

Does it just appear when you start it up, then disappear after a few seconds?

    Its a service light.

Means you are due a service, you can reset it with a guide on here. Have a search.

means there is a spanner driving the car.

are you serious do you really not have the brains or a tiny little bit of knowledge to know its to tell you your due a service?
don't just reset it like a prat get it serviced then reset it.

No need for a comment like that, not everyone is car wise, hens the reason for the thread.

if you don't know what a spanner in the dash means then you shouldn't be on the road its part of the show me tell me on tests now so actually my comment was rite.

by the way it stays on while the car is on
  9. #9
well i obviously passed my test before that didn't i you "spanner"
  10. #10
your the spanner who don't know what a service light is try using the search next time.
  11. #11
    okay mr know it all
  12. #12
i took my test about 2 months ago, it wasnt on the list of show me tell me questions i was given, as said above some someone what isnt "car wise" it might not be obvious, it could look to some people like it means there is a problem with the car, chill out bedford try and just help instead of being a t**t at the same time

    1. bedford126 stfu you tool the op asked a question
    2. like said it means your car thinks it needs a service as I dont know when you last had 1 ill tell you how to get rid of it but will say that if you dont know when it last had a check up then get it serviced.

what you need to do to turn the spanner off is hold down the button on your dash that resets the mileage, turn the ignition on and a timer will come on and count down from ten, once it reaches zero it'll go back to 10,000 or 12,000 depending on what model which then means you have till it reaches zero before the next service is due

You can reset it yourself, and do a service on your car.

So stop with the ignorance of calling me a prat for turning my light off?

would it be on a test? as it isnt something that all vehicles are fitted with? i dont know like as i passed my test years ago but would seem to me that they would only test things that are common to all vehicles as they do not know what you will be driving or have been driving. like i say though i dont know and im sure someone will prove me wrong

Isnt it like turn it so the ignitions on, but dont start up engine.
Then hold down a button for 10 secs and it flashes, then turn off car, then start it up and its gone.

This didnt work for me :/ it counted down, then i got an equals sign and a zero, ( after the first few fails i tried holding down still at this stage but to no avail) turned the ignition off, removed the key put it back in, still got that bellend spanner. Oh yeh, ive serviced it too
  26. #26
    switch off ignition
    press and hold button
    switch on ignition
the distance remaining until next service flashes
    hold button for 10 seconds
the display will read =0 and the spanner will disappear

    hope this helps
