Number Plate light problem :(

  1. #1
Hi can anyone help. My number plate lights won't work and i can't figure out why.
I had a look at them and one of the plugs was a bit green with corrosion so i thought it would be that. After cutting the plug off and replacing with two spade connectors they still won't work.
I've tried the obvious like fuse and bulbs but they were all ok.
Has anyone had a similar problem or have any idea what could be wrong? Thanks

Have you checkd to make sure you have good voltage and earth at the bulb,

Could possible to be a bad earth. Not sure to be honest.

are all the wires secure? one of them faulty?

Hmmm not sure, how would i check for a good earth?

    Get a multi meter.
Put a probe on each wire if you get notheing swamp them around.
If you still have nothing, leave the red probe on the connector and touch the black on a good bolt on the body.
If you now get a reading you have a bad earth.
Either track it back and make good or join a new earth wire on to it

Ok i'll give that a go in the morning. Er there's three wires going to the first plug, Grey, Green and Yellow but the grey and green join together in the plug. Is there a certain wire i should check or will either one do?
