right guys doing the g/fs clutch and gear box got the clutch on and used an alignment tool so that should be fine but finding it hard to lift the gear box back up into place and idea what's the best way

have tried lifting it to a point and getting g/f sliding jack under but soon as start to jack it up the jack slips off the box so back to square one would really like to get box back on then just a case of putting it all back together what wont take long

any tips you guys know would be great

    cheers leigh

you need a couple of people mate and go underneath and put it in from on your back
also strip off the mounts from the gearbox if you havent done it already
i had the same problem as you and its a real pain in the ass
but after i stripped these bits off it went in easy.
also we took the sensor off and put it back on afterwards
(the plastic bit to the left)

ok mate what we did is this
my mate was on his back right inbetween the engine and gearbox and i was behind by the wheel suporting the back to keep it in the right angle and we slipped it on
it will be alot harder doing it with your g.f because girls dont listen and the not as strong lol well mine dont anyway
its a real pain in the ass i know i had to do it not long ago but you should do it if the clutch is lined properly
dont try from the top tho because thats even harder i think
my car isnt on the road i have no tax or mot at the moment otherwise i would have come and helped

Lol how could he not have taken the gearbox mount off? You have to take the mount off to get the old box off then for the new one all you do is lie under the car on your back, get the box on your chest and slide the box into position and make sure its sitting flush for the bolts going in, straight forward but as said the more the merrier as it is a tight job on a 106/saxo.

One of the most horrible jobs, did mine on me own recently, had to have the engine angled right down to get the bugger back on. Bet your glad it's sorted. Fingers crossed your driveshaft seals have survived. Things we do for cars eh!

well nearly there now just got to charge battery as pluged in on to the car to try and start it and there was nuthink at all so think i killed it as been using it for my impact wrench etc

but clutch pedel needs ajusting as sitting really high in car but apart from that clutch all moves etc and and no leaks from drive shaft seal and its been left all nite with oil in so fingers crossed should work can select all gears as well
