Just bought my saxo a week ago, noticed that it stutters abit when starting up, always starts first time, but sometimes it just doesnt sound too healthy. Any reason for this? Or just the cold weather?

#2Just the cold weather mate. Does it do it once it's at working Temp or just when it's cold, such as the mornings?1 user thanked this post:

#3Nah, only seems to do it if it has been lying for a few hours in the cold. If i drive it for a bit and then try turning it off and on again, it starts up on the button!Quote:Just the cold weather mate. Does it do it once it's at working Temp or just when it's cold, such as the mornings?
Thought it might just be the cold, but thought i'd just check. Cheers mate -
#4You're welcome

You'll find most engine's are a little lumpy when cold

#5Alright, i've got a similar problem my car sat for about a week unused and now when i got it fired up its still like mega jerky going through revs ( Stand still ) Anyone else think it will just clear once i take it for a decent run? Or should i just service it also?
-
#6It will clear. If it doesn't just give it a good looking over
-
#7Just seems hesitant as fuck now in the cold, but i'd say my car needs a good service anyway, definetely fuel filter change should make a good difference!
-
#8mines the same, doesn't help that the coilpacks dodgy in the wet
gave it a good thrash and it clears up. back again when cold. i just ignore it, sometimes makes it jerk which is irritating! -
#9Yeh faulty coil pack will do that, winter will always make cars (Not just Saxo's) run rough, due to moisture on wires, connectors, in the fuel Etc... I hope you let it warm up to working temp before you give it that thrashing. Or it will only get worse and kill your Engine over a small period of timeQuote:mines the same, doesn't help that the coilpacks dodgy in the wet

Especially in this cold weather, being -5 a lot these last few days, oil is thick and bearings will be stiff
-
#10I let the car warm up but it doesnt seem to want to idle by itself at the moment, saying that it wasn't too fond of idling on its own in the warm, once i get the chance it will be getting major belt change, fuel and oil filter, and some super unleaded
.

#11oh god of course not. im not a person that does 100mph from a cold start ragging the shit out of it. by the time i get to a road i can comfortably get some pace on, its warmed up lolQuote:Yeh faulty coil pack will do that, winter will always make cars (Not just Saxo's) run rough, due to moisture on wires, connectors, in the fuel Etc...
