Well basically was fine last night at 7pm car was working fine & car heating was working fine. Woke up this morning early to warm my car up to defrost as its around -10 here. Then after 10 minutes the car wasnt warming up so i had to set off to work and takes around 15 minutes to get to work and once arriving still blowing cold air, Then getting out of my car i realised that my fan was going so i pulled it out and now im at work and deciding what to do next, any ideas?
No heat at all?

#4Theres 3 bleed nipples on the pipes if you have a search there is a guide for doing it.

#5Thanks mate i shall try that, I have also noticed that my my turn my car so all lights so up the temp light never lights up this has been like this for 1 year now so dont think that is the problem, But i shall bleed the rad i have got a guide so ill use that! Thanks
EDIT: just a question on this guide it says this
Keep the water and antifreeze going in until a trickle of water shoots out of the first bleeding point without stopping... do this for the other 2 and then leave car on fast idle (1000rpm) until the fan kicks in 2 or 3 times...
Do i put the nipple back on the first 1 until it starts trickling out of the 2nd then close up the 2nd then same as third? -

-
#10sounds like you need to bleed you system dude
-
#11I have the same problem mate with no heat at all... Its the pipes are froze over, mine will tick over and all but the temp will shoot up.. Dont leave ur car runnin as the water isnt gettin through to all the parts it needs to and it will burst ur rad.. Let it defrost, that could take a while but its natin to serious i had to mechanics look at my vtr an hour ago and both said it was froze over..
-
#13It was -17 last night mate what wudnt freeze
-
#15if bleeding doesnt work remove the bottom rad hose and drain as much as you can then refill with warmish water and antifreeze or u can flush with warm water to defrost but not to hot though
-
#16Ill bleed it first guys, Will be bleeding it after work which will be around 5.30 so ill be posting on here later on tonight!
-
#17Dont bother bleeding it mate waste ov time.. Its the pipe behind the head thats froze and its hassel to get at it to remove and de-freeze
-
#20Mine was frozen this morning. I flushed it through with warm water, and rebleed with with a stronger mixture of antifreeze and water.
Seems to have picked back up now. -
#22Going to bleed it first
, if thats doesnt work then warm water it is!
-
#25No need to drain the pipes.. Leave the car goin for 5-7mins.. Knock it off and leave it for 20min.. Do the same again once more and leave for 20min.. Thats what i done for mine and its back as good as ever...
-
#26I need to soon mate so gota use the fast option, If bleeding doesnt work shall i just add warm water while the car is running and just basically flood it? or add it while the car isnt running? sorry im not that good with cars give me a computer any day
-
#27Dont do this.Quote:No need to drain the pipes.. Leave the car goin for 5-7mins.. Knock it off and leave it for 20min.. Do the same again once more and leave for 20min.. Thats what i done for mine and its back as good as ever...

If you don't have any water left in the system, can damage the block.
If the engine gets hot before the water in the pipes has defrosted, then surely you will turn the water to steam... and the pressure will damage the rad / pipes?
Just do as we said, and rebleed the system... then you don't have to worry about doing anything else again. -
#28Bleeding will work.Quote:I need to soon mate so gota use the fast option, If bleeding doesnt work shall i just add warm water while the car is running and just basically flood it? or add it while the car isnt running? sorry im not that good with cars give me a computer any day

Drain the system, add warm water to the rad (not boiling) and blow through until it comes out of the last bleed point. This will show its not getting stuck anywhere.
Then mix up your antifreeze mixture and bleed properly with the points in the right order.
Run engine on a fast idle (1200 ish) for a while until the fan kicks in, and also turn your heaters on hot inside to get water moving around. -
#29There is no need to bleed it just do as i say and it will be 100%
-
#31I have got warm air coming through now but it goes cold then warm then cold again is this normal?
-
#33which nipple is best to bleed from the dust cap 1 or the 1 near the engine?
-
#34Theres 3 mate 2 are nipples the other one is on the thermostat housing and is an allen key do them in sequence as the guide says there is knowone best nipple to use mate.

#35Car is now running with fully hot and working
, now just letting the car idle for 15minutes hopefully the fan will have turned off
-
#38Turn the engine off the fan should switch off in a few mins.

#41--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ur thermostats frozen and u have an air lock, remove ur themostat, inside the housing, the bit that joins the top hose to the mount its in there, build it back up with out it in there, bleed ur system going, rad, then housing (allen key) then the one ontop of the hose behind the ctiming belt cover, it looks like a tyre valve cap, make sure water comes out before moving onto the next and if none does squeese the hoses, then top up the top up. i use a 50/50 mix of antifreese. then it will work lol, all you will need is to buy a new 88 thermostat, only 6 pound, car will be fine without it, it will just take longer to warm up as its useing all the water to cool instead of a percentage.
im 99 persent sure this iss ur problem
p.s the tanks buttons down there VVV -
#42Thanks mateQuote:--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
