50/50 antifreeze/water - but make sure its the same type as what is in. If not, drain it out and start from fresh

    Yep thats what I do
  6. #6
I fired two litres in mine.
  7. #7
read the back of the bottle. Usually helps
I've had to deal with two cars with too little antifreeze in today so people need to make sure they have the right mixture for -15degree winter temps rather than a summer blend.

I had a right laugh myself, my water pipes were frozen so thought ohh dear.. awaiting for damage to show up, but i got away with it ( i think ) i waited until it thawed then started flushing warm water through the system, which took all ice out the pipes then fired in two litres of anti-freeze to water , job done With no leaks after
  9. #9
i put 3 in mine when i did it
  10. #10
yea ash im leaning to pack 3 liters in looked in the good old haynes manual showing coolant capacity at 5.8L so 50/50 makes 3l! incase i have a leak i dunno about

cant wait to get the car runnin back again
  11. #11
I normally out 2-3 liters in.

Then test it with a Tester.

yea dont rate will have any cracks cars been in perfect condition since i got it, what tester are you talkin about? cant be that necessary as ive not herd of ppl testin their coolant?
  16. #16
If you mix the right amount, it's not a must but you can test it if you're not sure how much you should have put in, it'll say if it's not enough or too much.

Im gonna rage out and shove loads on my 307 today. Over heats every journey in this weather, think the rad and themostat are freezing up lol, no heat inside the car either

    Either that or Headgasket.

Also an easy(ish) way to drain coolant is to remove expansion cap, put a hose pipe is possible (if not a mop bucket full of water is ok)l.

    - Remove return pipe from engine. Dangle over front of car into a suitable container
    - Start car, coolant in the car will start to come out. Slowly top the expansion tank up with water from bucket ( or set hose to slow speed to match that of water coming out)
-After about 4/5minutes start to poor anti-freeze in, keep pooring until the water coming out the re-turn pipe turns blue/pink. Stop hose/bucket feeding Stop the engine. Put the return hose on. (by this time i had put 1L in)
    - Put rest of required anti-freeze in 1/2L so u know the required amount is in
    - Check level it should be just under the mark on the expansion botttle. top up with water, run engine for abit. See if it drops/raises.

Job done. I did this with my other car as bottom hose wasnt "open access"

Link should help, Also you may need to bleed it through the nipples aswell to let air out (i think)

Also another guide, I think the engine should be off when doing this not sure tho any help would be gd

    Bleeding The System

Before we start i must insist that you get a propper header tank to sit into the expansion tank (costs about £18.00 from citroen) This will savle you alot of time if any air is trapped in the heater matrix.

There Are 3 Bleeding Points That Need To Be Done In Sequence Starting With The Lowest.

Open All Bleeding Points Up Until A Steady Supply Of Water Emerges without Bubbles.

    Bleed Points Are:

    1. Top Right Of The Radiator(Small Plastic Clip)
    2. Top Of Thermostast Housing (5mm Allen Key, Just Right Of The Rocker Cover)
    3. Drivers Side Of Engine, Looks Like A valve cap

Keep the water and antifreeze going in until a trickle of water shoots out of the first bleeding point without stopping... do this for the other 2 and then leave car on fast idle (1000rpm) until the fan kicks in 2 or 3 times...

Let the car cool down and then check water levels

my cars on 56k , So you just kept filling the tank up then opened the 1st point on the rad? then closed that up let it run to the 2nd? then close that up then on third? did you have the car running whilst you was doing this?

yea pretty much i found that the expansion tank was between min and max so had to get a fair bit out of the system so easiest way was i took the valve cap off the drivers side of the engine near the injectors then rev it once up to temp so a fair bit came out then jus put in my antifreeze (2L) then toped up with bit of water then bled each one as in the guide then went for a spin.

haha i did that took the cap off and it shot out like a fountain? did that happen to you lol?

    Thats a good sign

I thought I had a 50/50 mix in mine but last night at -10 it froze so obviously halfords antifreeze needs more - in my case i put in another 2 litres - watch the bastard weather warm up now
  30. #30
So the fountain is a good sign ha, Ill just add more anti freeze , its not bad for it
  31. #31
yeah it should shoot out like my spunk does out of my 12 inch cock.
  32. #32
    haha @VTHall

@tally2454 i took my expansion tank cap off when the engine was cold so didnt burn ma face
