Car Died.

Not a saxo, but since most cars work the same...

Driving home last night, and the dash lights went dim, then the headlights went off, then the car died... Anyway, i looked under the bonnet, nothing obvious, then while i was waiting for a friend to come for me, i turned it over, and it started again... All the lights came on and everything..

10 minutes down the road, it died again..

Now this makes me think it isnt the altornator, or why would it start and run as normal again for 10 minutes, surely it would just die completely.. So im thinking maybe the battary is fooked?

Anyone shed some light on it for me?

    Will be an earth issue
check the main one from the battery to the gearbox

Well mine did this today I had the RAC out they tested the battery & alternator & its a faulty alternator not pushing out the correct voltage.Could also be an earth problem though.

Cant see it been this if im honest, because the car has ran since summer when i bought it, and never had any issue with starting or losing power like this.. I thought it may have been an earth, but it was abit dark to rake through the engine bay..

Start the car get a multimeter on the battery terminals check how much charge it has then go to the + & - connectors on the alternator & see how much current its pushing out.Remember in this weather how much current your drawing from the battery with things like heated rear screen heaters etc.My alternator yesterday was only pushing out 10 volts.
