Mk2 Y reg Vtr Central locking not working

  1. #1
only had the car for a week, and was sold car knowing central locking wasn't working.
Alarm doesnt work either tried changing battery and nothing, its the non infared type alarm with a large and small button type fob.

Anyone know best place i could start looking to trace problem for either of these??

    Update:
Right when i was messing round with the centrol locking relay/unit, everytime i plugged it back in i could hear the solenoids in the doors make a sound same with one in the boot, but still didnt work. i locked the boot just before and noticed after it was unlocked again, it just seems to be the doors that aren't working but yet the solenoids seem to make a sound when plugging the CLU in. anyone any ideas??

    fuse maybe?
  3. #3
think i read somewhere that central locking fuse also does interior light etc aswell but interior light is working

i no theres a central locking black box under the dash on the passenger side, i no these can mess up

cool will check it out, any way in telling if its buggered or not?? also is this black box in any way linked to the alarm not working also??
  6. #6
not too dure on how to check it other than to try another one, maybe linked to the alarm as the cars not locking off the fob
  7. #7
ok cheers will have a look tomorrow

right finally recieved another CLU, but is the wrong one :/. But i unplugged the one fitted to car at the moment then plugged it back in. You can hear the solenoids in all the locks click and alarm beeps once, so i tried locking and unlocking car with key and from inside but still no luck. Any ideas from anyone?

Also can anyone confirm if this is the CLU?

  11. #11
its located behind the fuses behind the dash, found it easier to get to it by taking the glovebox out

when i got my saxo last week, my central locking didnt work. so i thought it was the battery... i took it out a few times and turned it around etc and it worked
  20. #20
mine doesnt work at all, even with the key
  21. #21
    bumpski
  22. #22
    anyone?
  23. #23
also does anyone know what the other black box does thats located right next to the central locking unit?
  24. #24
you tried replacing the fuse? central locking on my saxo wasnt working when i bought it however interior light was. the light went and replaced fuse (bottom right i think) and central locking started working.
  25. #25
unsure if its the fuse or not, i looked otherday and what i think is the correct one is fine. but as said earlier when i unplugged and plugged central locking unit back in i could here the solenoids in the doors/boot make a noise, but still no luck
