#2Possibly, worn synchro's maybe
-
#3dip your clutch in whilst in those problem gears to see whether it changes anything.

#4just been out in the car and when you dip the clutch the noise goes.when you gear down to second thats when you can hear it but if i dip the clutch it goes.also jacked the car up and i no it needs a driveshaft,as it sounds like there is no grease in it.so was just wondering if that is what the noise could be as you only hear it when at low speeds.but not at over say about 30.was just asking as changing the clutch and driveshaft, and did not wont to put it all back together to find out it needs a box.thanks ste

#5just jacked the car up and the driveshafts seem to wobble abit near the cv joints when jacked up, and there is a slight wobble on the steering when on the motorway and when you turn round abend it wobbles abit more.so do i need new shafts.if it is then will go and get new ones if thats the problem any help before i buy the parts.thanks ste

#6if you think your driveshaft is going it will be obvious but from what you've mentioned your gearbox isnt too healthy and could also do with replacing too.
-
#7you will need a new gearbox. Recommended to change the clutch at the same time
-
#8what gearbox will fit as i have a mate who has a breakers yard but he has only got a 1.1 mark 2 in at the moment.thanks ste

#91.1s will fit np.

#10can get the box for nothing of my mate if it fits then, go and buy a new clutch at the same time and change the driveshafts.so should be all good, sods law when you going to sell the car,but at least its better it going now then when i sell it and the new owner only drives a few miles and it happens on him, will be all ready for new owner when i sell it so no problems when i come to sell it.thanks

#11keep in mind your MPG will drop though.
