    i have all the parts from citroen dealer as i can get them cheap through a mate or work i just need a price for someone to fit it for me using the correct tools as i know you need a specialist tool to fit it to check the tension!
    i have a cambelt tensioner and water pump!
    also need to be close to northampton!

    you don't need a special tool to tension the cambelt on a saxo engine, yes tension is important but doesn't need anything special to set unlike modern engines that are fussy about exact tension

    thats what it was saying in a mates book so he didnt want to do it because he don't have the tool

    Special tool is not needed. Just common sense really.

    And if it's an 8v engine you can't really get anything wrong

    never used a special tool on any of the 100's of Saxo/106 engines i've done the belt on, think thats just the official word by Citroen or belt supplier to safeguard themselves. There are lots of jobs that are meant to utilise special tools but 99.9% of the time there is a way around it using a basic tool kit.

    You could always buy the tool if you were that concerned;

    Laser 4212 - Belt Tension Gauge

    I use it, because ive got it to hand, although its not really needed.

    Probably cheaper to buy the tool than going to a main dealer.
