brakes/servo unit help

  1. #1
Just been out to the car this morning, now that the snow has cleared. Car is saxo 1.4 West Coast Mk1 . Have noticed that the brakes are not working like before the bad weather. Wandering if it is the servo unit ? The car has been outside for last two weeks covered in snow and not been anywhere. Basically when I drive off and press the brake pedal once it will stop normally, but if I then press the brake pedal again within a couple of seconds,
    (nothing happens)
It feels like I am pressing against a rock, but the car does not slow down.
I have removed the check valve from the servo unit and blown through it one way which indicates that it is working correctly. Also checked the pipe from check valve back to inlet manifold, That looks OK and no leaks when blown through.
Thinking now it must be the servo unit itself ?
Is there a ruber diaphram inside the servo unit ?
Wandering if that might have perished if there is one in there ?
Strange how it will work once only
    Any ideas please
