First off, been using this website as a guest for some time now to solve a few problems/get hints and your all great, so cheers! Did a search for this one and couldnt find much on it though.
Right the problem then (mark 1 1.1 "97) the locks:
The passenger lock has always had issues as long as Ive had the car, as you turn the key, the central locking unlocks the door and then locks it, and then unlocks it... so on and so on.. well being the passenger door its never been a problem as when I used the drivers door it always behaved.
So, sods law, the drivers door lock is now fubar'ed... Basically, over the last few weeks its become difficult to turn the key in the lock but not all the time, thought it was frost at first but sadly not the case! So had a quick play with it today, sometimes the key will open the door and all is well, sometimes the key cannot turn fully in the lock (so its a trip in through the boot!) and sometimes the lock will turn unlock the door but not activate the central locking.
Any thoughts on what to do? Perhaps try switching the barrels between the doors? Are they interchangeable?
But surely if the key can turn and unlock the drivers door only sometimes that surely suggests that the central locking motor is playing up too?
