    hi guys,

i have not used my saxo for around a year as it has been in the garage as my prodject.

i have been turning engine on and warming up to move around my drive but have done no miles on it.

just recently i have noticed on tic over, there is a lot of white smoke coming out my exhaust.

car sounds normal and gets up to temp perfect.

oil caps fine amd all water, and oil is a the right level.

i am lost on this subject, but is everthing ok,

i recon it might be because i have not used it for so long and it just needs a good clear out up the motor way. but my dads seems to think its a blown head?

please can any one tell me if i am right or my dad is haha

Its better you dont start it up at all it creates condensation in the exhaust and cold starts aint so good for engines.

Is it thick white smoke or does in disappear quickly?

I recently bought a VTS that the owner had done the same thing as you do, when i removed the exhaust i couldn't believe the amount of water i poured out of the back box!

umm i left the car on for 20 mins today and the engine was really warm. its quite thick but seems to disapear on when you let go of the throttle? if there was any water in exhaust shorly it would evaporat when it gets hot?

    thanks joe

You'd need to go for a long drive before it'd evaporate.

It doesn't sound like the h/g has gone.

thats wot i thought. why would the exhaust have condensation in it though? lol

what do you think comes out of the exhaust, just give it a good run and see if it goes away

Its just condensation mate you probably notice too when your bonnets up your getting a bit of steam coming from it all normal.

ok thats cool just worried me. can to much oil in the engine cause it to smoke?
  10. #10
Too much oil won't cause the oil to burn, but having too much oil is not a good thing, get it to the correct level

its on the level. i just wanted to know haha

are you losing coolant? check and double check. if not it will be moisture in the exhaust just evaporating off as the engine warms the pipes up.
probably not oil as you describe white smoke and oily smoke is much darker than white.
