Harness question..?

  1. #1
So I bought these today for £150.

Just a quick question as I was told by someone that I can't use the harness with back seats?

Is this true or is there a way of getting around it and keeping the back seats in??

I really don't want to use standard belts.

    Cheers, Mike.

Not bad going but i have something that will make you sick......

A few years back almost to the day i picked up 2 cobra monaco s seats, subframes and harnesses for £200

You will struggles to mount the harnesses well without taking the rear seats out.

Fair play mate, these are just what i needed recliners, harness and sub frames.

Can't go wrong lol, isit possible tho if so how?

I think i have seen it done in some photos but looks silly.

you can keep the rear seats in, but they're not really going to be of any use tbh,

as the harnesses will be bolted to the car floor and/or existing rear seat bolt mounts

My monacos went in without harnesses and mine was fully ripped out apart from dash board. I sold them for £50 on ebay. Put the balance of "as new" monacos and subframes at £150 all in, not bad

you could always ask your passengers to seat on the harness.

You promised? Well, bad news, you're up shit creek without a paddle. She will soon realize carrying friends at the back will not happen. Worse: you could have bought a brand new gear box+ clutch for the price of those 3 used gearboxes and seats.

Oh well, I know I am typing all this for sod all since you never listen to people's advice, unless it goes the way you decided in the first place... Judging by the looks of your seats, should have bought some VTR/VTS/GTI seats instead of going for the cheap seats/harness .

My mate does gearboxes and hes doing it for £80 so i've got more than enough for the gearbox. Its getting fixed this weekend hopefully! Cheers tho bud.

Or maybe you should just slow down, so you don't go through so many gearboxes.

At a rate of 3 per month, £240 seems a lot. Makes subarus maintenance look cheap tbh.

Mate I'm having a similar problem trying to find a way to use harnesses and still have functional rear seats, one thing I have came across some people have had a bar made and fitted to the floor right behind the front seat/rear seat footwell and the harnesses are attached to that. Dont know if that would be any help to you?
  19. #19
You may as well go the whole hog and strip it if you want harnesses. Improperly installed harnesses can literally kill you in the event of a crash.

Big risk to take just for bragging rights, no?

&To quote an article on HondaClub:

Also note that unless your seatbelt is really unsafe or old, a racing harness is truly unnecessary. OEM engineers spend lots of money and research in making your car safe. They DO know what they are doing after all.

    look really nice mate

And £200 for monacos aint that cheap i got a set with saxo subframes, sabelts harness in good condition for £130, sold them for profit and got a suzuka pro for next to nothing, and then pick up MINT gti leather for £80. i am a bargin seat hunter

I've now stripped the car lol
  22. #22
but the question is...can u put it back together with no left over nuts or bolts lol
  23. #23
Harnesses should be attached the the harness bar of the rollcage.

buckets + harnesses + NO cage = FAIL, massive potential for broken neck/back.

not a fan of these seats! conras ftw!
  25. #25
    standard seats ftw!

stuff all the hastle just for bragging rights
