Hi All, after some advice here. I have a 97 VTR with what looks like dealer fitted alarm. Past few days, when you turn the key, the engine turned over once, stopped then after a few seconds it turned over normally and then started. Today, when I turned the key, nothing !!! The alarm now sounds all the time, and when it goes, it looks like it's draining as the dash lights dim with each wail of the siren. It now won't turn over and also the central locking has gone mental as it has, on several occasions, constantly locked then unlocked the doors. Is this a bad earth somewhere ???? Thanks, Dave

#2if the lights are dim it could be the battery?

#3I only fitted a new battery a few weeks ago as the winter cold killed the other one. It's been fine till a few days ago and it's certainly not as cold now as it was. Just seems like something was sticking when it tried to turn over, now all I get is the bloody alarm!

#4Take the battery off and charge it up and try it again. the alarm might be wailing coz the batteries dying(mine used to do it) and the battery might be dying because of a drain in the system. If it does start after the charge then try and find the drain

#7We have ignition!!! Charged the batttery up and cleaned the earth and terminals and it started. The factory fitted alarm still sounded though so i traced the wires back to the alarm box behind the dash and pulled the 20amp fuse on it. Now, engine runs and no alarm sounds or lights flash. Don't have the alarm "zapper" to do it manually so have had to resort to pulling the fuse. Thanks to all who have helped with ideas. Dave
