    hi guys.

as luck as has it my alternator has recently died
been looking around on ebay and saw one fairly cheap however it was removed off a mk1 1.1

will this fit on my mk2 forte 1.1?
if so is it a big job to replace??

    thnks in advance

Its not a big job. unbolt off.. re-bolt on iirc.

I imagine it will be ok. dont quote me though.

Quite an easy job i`ve just dne mine took longer than expected because the alternator pivot bolt was seized. With alternators you need to check several things ie the ampage, connectors on the back etc.Get some serial numbers off yours & match it match up with 1.

    yer piece of piss job.

    i done mine recently.

i slammed a 1.1 alternator on my VTR, had it on for about 6 months now and all is good. so from 1 1.1 to another there will be no problem.

    have you got a haynes?

i did mine whilst consulting that. very useful for some thing, useless for lots of others though

its just a matter of unbolting everything that you see it attched to, then bolting the new one on. make sure you check the tension of the belt before you remove it, then you have something to compare with.

the belt should have 5mm of play in it when correctly tensions. but if its slightly too tight it wont make too much of a difference. you will know if its too slack coz it will make a racket!

    good luck

Is it just me or do saxo alternators appear to be crap?

Do all saxo's use Multi v belts?

    Cool.

I think i'm going to fit a different (lighter) alternator set up on the vts, the same as my Rallye has.
