hi my mate got a new rocker cover today for his mk2 saxo (2001)and when he went to do the bolts up one of them snaped inside the engine so one side of the rocker cover moves. i was wondering if there is a way to get the snaped bolt out.

thats what iv got in my tool collection.

if u remove the rocker cover , is the bolt poking out of the head or has it snapped flush?

hi if once you take the rocker cover off there is some thred left you can put tue nuts on and hold the first one with a spaner and tighten the top one till you can get the socket over both then you shud be able to wind the stud out like a bolt and put a new one in

no he has snapped it flush

ah buger will have to use the stud removers linked above

oh ok how do they work??

Tag weld a piece of metal to the remaining part of the bolt? Usually works for me and costs nothing to do.
    Good luck.

to use the Bolt extractor you have to file the top of the bolt flat then drill a hole in it and wind the bolt extractor in then it shud start to undo the stud hope this makes sense

dont file anything, the bolt has been snapped flush, chances are once u start filing u will cause damage to the head.
but do everything else he says

i wouldn't drill or file anything if any bits of metal from drilling or filing get into your oil your engine is as good as fucked. take the car to a garage and get them to weld a m6 nut on the top of the stud then let it cool and remove with a socket and ratchet. no mess no metal filings no fucked engine.

you put the nut over the broken stud and weld through the hole of the nut into the stud its not hard not a week goes by that i don't do this at work.

Exact same thing happened to me mate, I snapped off one bolt and then my mate thought that tightening one side would counteract for the absence of the one on the other..... He snapped that one. Went to the scrappy and got a new one for £15. Just use some long nose pliers with some elbow grease (WD40 to loosen the bolt) should come out depending on how hard you cranked the bolt in. Good luck and remember to change the gasket as with it being loose you'll need a new one. Autoparts direct do em for a fiver.
