   how much am i looking at to buy some?
   Is there any better makes that i should get etc.

   I bought mine from Toolstation.com.
   
   about £13 delivered Iirc. anywhere between that and £20 will get you a pair of axle stands.
   
   Aslong as they're designed to hold the weight of the car you should be fine.
   Most are around 2tonnes anyway, so if your lifting a Saxo..you're fine
