Running a bit rough when cold

  1. #1
Over the past week when i've gone to use the VTS from cold it has been running a bit rough ie splutting a bit through the revs

It's nothing serious and always sorts itself out after a minute or so of driving (I always let her warm up a little before driving)

Any common faults on the 16v's to cause this behaviour?

    Or any common theory's?

Idle control valve, coolant temperature sensor both things that affect idling.

Its not the idle mate the idle is fine.

Just when you rev up to and before 2k RPM that it gets a bit rough.

    Thanks for the Input

coilpack could be on its way out causing an intermitent miss.

That a common fault? Is there a method to check?

Yeah it is quite common for them to start breaking down over a period of time.

Not sure of other ways of testing it but i got it on a disgnostics machine and it showed the voltages the coils were producing. One of the voltages was breaking down occasionally.

Best plan would be to ask a mate with a vts to let you try their coilpack on your car.

Out of interest mate where is the MAP sensor located and what did you clean it with?I ask because i`m running out of options on my car i`ve been told either MAP sensor or Lambda sensor faulty.

    Cheers.

Its to the left of the throttle body housing and screws onto the engine with a single allen headed bolt

I just soaked both parts in WD40 - my problem has lessend but is still present
