2003 Vtr gearbox in 2000 Furio

    Rite... my furios gearbox has had it however a mate of mine have given me a vtr one for nothing.. I've searched on here and haven't found anything specific for this.. I've noticed about the clutch sizes being different (the 180mm n 200mm dia), what about driveshafts etc? I don't care about speed, its a work car now
    Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

    (A bearing in the box has gone, not release bearing as just had new clutch so is making loud whirring noise) How long do you reckon i can drive with this like it? I got a long journey coming up..

    How lang is a piece of string ? with regards to the gear box you can use a vtr/s box without any problems . With the cluthes size it goes of the size of the fly wheel . Yours will be 180 mm clutch where as vtr/s are 200mm.

    Thanks.. had it done now, bolted straight on, driveshafts fit fine. However... there was a metal on metal rubbing noise coming from the clutch when it was being engaged and the pedal felt stiff-ish. The noise went on the way home, but the stiffness is still there, so not quite sure whats happened here.
    There is definatly differences in the ratios, 1 obvious 1 is how it takes much more revvs to pull off now. It's also somehow developed a mis-fire :s

    beware you might loose oil out of it

    1.1/1.4 boxes are not classed as 'sport' boxes as they have a smaller diff, therefore the drive shafts are longer

    the vtr/s/xsi/rallye boxes are the 'sport' boxes and have larger diffs in them so they have smaller shafts

    so if you fit a sport box with non sport drive shafts then the shafts will be slightly too long therefore not make a good seal with the gearbox, so a bit of oil can leak out

    It all seemed fine (apart from misfire which is an unrelated coincidence) until today when driving home the clutch went! Had a new 1 not 3months ago. Just gna stick the old box on (new clutch) and look for another 1.4 one. Would strongly advise to anyone against doing this. Whole car seems to be falling apart. Thanks for the advice

    well if done properly theres no reason why it wouldnt work, i had a 1.1 box on vts, i have to admit though the gearbox mount snapped on me and i had to change the box to a vtr one haha i think that was an unrelated coincidence lol
