What mm have you gone at the back?
I'm thinking 80mm to make it level, as the back sits higher than the front?
  2. #2
mines about 80 at the back and its sits nicely, doesn look too low

    just springs or?

my old 1 was down 60/80 and dont get me wrong it looked good but it certainly wasnt level, i'd recommend 60/60 if you still want semi decent handling

    old 1 60/80

    then raised to 60/50
  8. #8
hmmmmm maybe mines 60, i could have sworn it was 80 though, 60 on the front spax springs and psx adjustable dampers, had the rearbeam and front struts on old car on stock dampers and it sat te same as theye just inserts

    cheers for the commnets ppl

    Brothers vtr was 60-70

    VTHall,

Just ta let you know, you'll almost never be able to get exactly 80.
It'll probably vary by 10, ATLEAST, either way.

You'll see what I mean when it comes to it. Thats why everyones car looks different heights even though they say they've lowered it "50/60" etc.

It'll probably be about 3 splines on the torsion bar if that helps

what mm back and fron does this look like.
  17. #17
to my eye in real life the front needs lowering a tad more but in ^^^^^ that photo it looks even (ish)
  18. #18
    I'd say 60/60.
  19. #19
    best handling set up - 50 - 45 tbh
  20. #20
    Mine...

    60/75:

    60/60:

Not a great second photo but you can see the gap in the arch compared to before

mine down 60mm front 70mm back. Any higher on the back and it wouldnt look good in my opinion. Saxos dont suit the nose down stance i dont think as the sideskirt has a flare to it so just looks better a tiny bit lower on the rear imo.

That wasnt me, that was previous owners decision, IMO it was too low at the back, much better 60 all round now though but going to 40 all round for better handling and make the car more drivable

How difficult is it to drive normally at 60/80? Apart from scraping on speedbumps etc.. What are the main changes to the handling?
  25. #25
Just don't go over anything slightly high lmao.

    Such as rocks
  26. #26
tbh at 70mm i rarely scrape even with a full car (which looks about 90). just aslong as i go really slow

Scrapes on anything sticking up more than a couple of inches and I found the suspension too soft, didn't get chance to really push so can't comment on the handling too much but feeling so soft I guess there was a bit of body roll going on...

Cheers guy for the replies. Just debating how low I want I mine to be cause I still want to be able to drive it. What is it that scrapes mostly?

    Manifold.
    Exhaust Clamps.
Sump if your Manifold doesn't hang lower.

Damn nothing that can really be tucked up for moved all that much then. Thanks for the advice

    Front bumper (VT* ones)
Lower strut brace (you'd be mental to have one at -60 tbh)

    James
  32. #32
mines just the decat and centre section silencer that takes all the abuse
  33. #33
I might be able to tuck the exhaust up abit on mine hopefully though so that might solve that problem
  34. #34
you can lower the rear trailing arms to any measurment, its around 3mm tolerance between each setting as obviously there splined so never going to be infinite adjustment. you just have to find the correct placement of the torsion bar, by rotating and trying, until it slots in.
  35. #35
cheers guys, 60/75 looks the most likely now!

    mines 60/65
