   Was gonna say why its an R reg obiously just had a Mk2 Front end put on it. looks like a right bodge.

   I would imagine it's been smashed up at some point and the mk2 fornt end was more accessible to the owner.

   its 1 Letter followed by 3 number, the newer ones are 2 Letters followed by 2 numbers.
