Spark Plugs

  1. #1
    Hi,

I have had a look on the forums but couldnt find an exact answer for what i am looking for.

How do you change the spark plugs on a citroen saxo mk2 forte. Is there a tutorial somewhere because in the haynes manual i have for my car the engine is different.

    thanks

    alex

Easy mate theres a black bar across the back of the engine with 2 nuts i think and a plug, undo them and unplug it then give it a good wiggle and it should pop out replace plugs and put back together done

+1 can be a sod to get out sometimes though because certain inlet manifolds get in the way persistance is key.

A flexable T bar socket 10mm works wonders for gettng the plugs out.

Do you no what the gap i think it is needs to be for spark plugs?
  7. #7
The clearance is 0.8mm I think if thats what you mean. They come pre-set though so you shouldn't have to gap them.

i am changing the spark plugs tomorrow so i just wanted to no also could you recommend me some good spark plugs from halfords please
  9. #9
Dont go to halfords for your plugs.
Go to a small independant spares place and get them.
Just get ngk plugs and all will be fine.

i have a mate with a trade card so its cheaper about 11 pound for the plugs

could you recommend me some good ngk spark plugs please? i had aloook on halfords and there are alot of different types
  12. #12
    Thats not cheap then!
And the plugs aint as good!

Should get ngk plugs from a small place for around £2 each!

oh right.. i will go to a place around the corner then

what are the best ngk plugs to get for a 1.1 saxo? mainly want fuel efficiancy
  15. #15
Well no plug will boost your mpg or bhp by loads.
All they will is help get it closer to the factory readings.
I always use ngk r plugs, nothing fancy just bog standerd
  16. #16
As above, NGK-R plugs are best for your application. Only need to worry about twin tips and platinum when you have got performance mods and the engine is under harsh loads.

well i dont have any mods on my car.. do all the ngk spark plugs work with my car because i was looking on halfords and they have all different models like 057 and 058 ect ect

    cheers guys

    Just ignore halfords.
The codes they use refer to sets as they sell.
Go to the independant spares place, tell them you want ngk plugs for your car.
They will either ask for the reg number or year, engine size and model.
